Wendell Jay Purvis has a longstanding ancestry in Paulding County dating back seven generations to the mid-1800s and he has sown his own deep roots in the community through dedicated public service at every level, from corrections to federal law enforcement and local education. As a former Georgia Department of Corrections officer and U.S. Department of Justice Senior Officer Specialist with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Wendell upheld public safety, led teams through critical incidents, and earned certifications from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Transitioning to education, he served as a Georgia public school teacher, inspiring students, fostering inclusive classrooms, and collaborating with families to build stronger futures.

Wendell's commitment shines brightest in his selfless community advocacy. When an out-of-town developer threatened our quality of life with a massive rock quarry along Highway 101, Wendell stepped up without hesitation. He organized meetings, launched a website and social media campaign, and rallied residents across Paulding and Carroll Counties. Through persistent grassroots efforts, legal advocacy, and engagement with officials, he helped deny the project—proving that citizen-led action can protect our farms, families, and neighborhoods from harmful overdevelopment.  That's why his fellow Paulding Republicans elected him as 15th Precinct Chairman of the Paulding GOP.

With a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Education, plus advanced doctoral studies, Wendell brings informed, accountable leadership to the table. As your Post 2 County Commissioner, he'll never back down from fighting for Paulding County. Wendell will lead the fight to bolster public safety, strengthen our schools, ease traffic congestion, lower property taxes, and halt uncontrolled sprawl to preserve what makes our community special.
